Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs)/Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs)

Responsible authorities have a statutory duty to work with other agencies and organisations to develop and deliver strategies to reduce crime and disorder including anti social behaviour that affects the local environment, as well as the misuse of drugs in their area. The statutory partnership is known as Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) or Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs).

The responsible authorities are:

  • Police
  • Police Authorities
  • Local Authorities
  • Fire and Rescue Authorities and
  • Primary Care Trusts

These bodies are under a statutory duty to ensure that other agencies such as probation and voluntary groups, come together to work in partnership to carry out an audit of local crime, disorder and drug misuse and using the information from the audit and consultation with local communities, they then formulate a strategy for tackling crime, disorder and drug misuse.

CDRPs

In the West Midlands we have 7 CDRPs/CSPs and a lead member that represents the Authority on each of them. For further information - links to below:

Consultation

Police Authorities are required to obtain the views of the people in the area about its policing. Consultation and community engagement gives us the opportunity to meet with and get the views and opinions of our communities in the West Midlands. Information you give us is used to inform the following strategic processes:

  • The policing priorities to be included in the Policing Plan
  • Contents of the annual best value performance plan
  • Annual report of the Authority
  • Other issues as may be considered appropriate

The Authority approved their Community Engagement Strategy in April 2011 and this sets out the aims and objectives of the consultation process.
