How we promote equality
If you would like to let us know your views which will help us in setting the policing priorities, please click below.
We are responsible for securing an efficient and effective police force for your area. In fulfilling this duty we work closely with West Midlands Police and with our local communities and partners. Promoting equality and a respect for diversity is a key and central part of our work, and our equalities scheme demonstrates how we aim to achieve this.
Like all public authorities in this country, we are subject to legislation that promotes disability, gender and race equality. We are required to comply with a range of duties to tackle discrimination and harassment and to promote equality and good relations in everything we do.
We are committed to promoting equality across all the strands of diversity:
- Race
- Gender (including transgender)
- Disability
- Sexual orientation
- Age
- Religion or belief
The commitments in our equalities scheme therefore apply to all of these strands.
