Police Performance
Performance assessments of public services are now established within Government.
Performance frameworks have been developed by the Home Office and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC), with support from the Association of Police Authorities (APA), Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and other key stakeholders in order to drive up performance in policing. This framework is called the Assessments of Policing and Community Safety (APACS).
In addition HMIC have created an area on their website "My Police". This area is a new way for you to find out how good a deal you're getting from your local police force. For the first time, you can look at official crime and anti-social behaviour figures together with the independent and professional assessments carried out by HMIC. My Police shows: how safe you are, how much is spent on your police, whether they perform well and if they are likely to improve. The information allows for comparisons of force’s performance grades against other forces along with 'value for money' profiles showing spending and staffing levels.
