International Convention Centre November 2008

West Midlands Police Authority working in partnership with the Local Criminal Justice Board, local authorities and the force, hosted a regional young people’s conference, in Birmingham at the International Convention Centre on 22 November 2008. The agencies worked together to gain a better understanding of young people’s views, concerns and their expectations about criminal justice agencies.

The Authority asked about anti social behaviour, gangs and street violence, staying safe, violent extremism and perceptions of criminal justice agencies and the young people were keen to have their opinions taken into account.

In total, 170 delegates attended and represented a wide range of projects and fora including the UK Youth Parliament, youth councils, users of Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) and targeted youth offending programmes.
